Our story began on June 24, 2013 when Julie began working at the same place as Steven: Catalina Express. The relationship wasn’t born overnight, but we spent the next couple of years creating a friendship that eventually blossomed into a relationship. Working in the same office, we ended up being desk neighbors – a perfect opportunity for Steven to talk Julie’s ear off. We would leave each other notes whenever the other wasn’t there (even though we could’ve just as easily texted each other). We became in charge of the office radio – which basically just meant everyone had to listen to whatever we wanted to hear. Through our note-passing and endless conversations, we learned we shared a love for many similar interests: family, games, music (especially country), traveling, and the Dodgers. This helped pave the way for many great date ideas, including the one date that officially started it all. On June 25, 2015, Steven asked Julie out to a concert for an artist we both love: Ed Sheeran. We knew this date would forever be in our minds as the official start to our relationship. Plus, it gave us a perfect reason to celebrate half-Christmas! As our relationship progressed, we were constantly on the hunt for concerts and music festivals for all the artists we loved. It was a sweet reminder that our love of music brought us closer together. After all, Steven did spend a bit of time serenading Julie with songs we both love when we first started dating. We also knew we loved to travel. At the end of 2015, we took our first solo trip together to Santa Barbara to ring in the new year. While the trip was perfect, we embarrassingly admit that we dozed off before the clock struck midnight. Thankfully we only missed it by about 20 minutes, but our excuse was always, “Sorry! It’s just so crazy up here with all these celebrations!” Throughout the years, we have filled our time with some amazing trips and memories with friends and family: we’ve camped in Big Sur and Three Rivers; flown across the country to New Orleans and Nashville; fished at the lakes of Mammoth and Colorado; spent many sleepless nights in Las Vegas; and raised a stein or two at Big Bear's Oktoberfest. Eight years later, Steven knew it was time to propose. He wanted so badly to make this happen on Julie’s birthday, which was being celebrated in Nashville that year. But an even better idea was on the horizon – or rather, 26 miles across the sea. Since we met each other at Catalina Express, it was only fitting that he decided to propose on Catalina Island. The one main request Julie had for the proposal was that her family would be present. So, Steven spent weeks coordinating with his parents and her parents and siblings. Thanks to everyone's help, the stage was beautifully set. On June 26, 2023, Steven finally proposed, and Julie emphatically said yes. Now, as we celebrate our tenth year together, we are ready for the biggest celebration of all: our wedding.
