Julie and Kyeon have been attending the same church but in different ministries. She was part of the KM (Korean speaking), and Kyeon was part of the EM (English speaking). Because of this, we didn't have many opportunities to get to know each other. One day during the Christmas season of 2016, Kyeon was at Starbucks writing Christmas cards to the members of the church. As he began writing Julie's Christmas card, all of a sudden, she walks in to the Starbucks with her colleague for a cup of coffee. The two didn't think much of the interaction and went our separate ways. Few days following Christmas, Kyeon decided to goto the same Starbucks to get some work done. Little did he know, Julie was also on her way to that Starbucks. We ran into each other again and decided to study together. After spending the entire day together at Starbucks, Kyeon mustered up the courage to ask Julie to have dinner together. So they went out for dinner and the rest was history. Long story short, we each then decided to pray regarding the relationship and two months later, we decided to pursue this relationship :)
It was Sunday after service, the day before Kyeon's birthday. With the help of a few church members, we decided to go shopping for decorations to prepare for the "surprise" proposal. Throughout the whole time, Julie had no idea as she thought we were preparing for Christmas. On the day of the proposal, Kyeon asked Julie if she could meet him at church to start off their day with prayer before going on a trip to Boston. Little did she know, Kyeon was preparing to propose to her at church, since that was the place where they first met. From early morning, with the help of a few friends, Kyeon decorated the chapel with lights and rose petals and prepared a slideshow with a video message. As soon as she walked into the chapel, she was greeted with the lights, rose petals, and the video of all our past memories together. Towards the end of the video, Kyeon came out of the hiding and read her the card he wrote for her and then got on his knees and asked her to be his wife. Oh, and she said yes!
