Julie and Irwin met at The Juilliard School in New York City. Both studied Acting in the Drama Division. Although they are the same age, Julie was a first year student while Irwin was in his fourth year at Juilliard.

29 years passed. Irwin and Julie both successfully pursued professional theatre arts and academic careers. Both were blessed with families; Julie in North Carolina and Irwin in California. Then, Julie wished Irwin Happy Birthday on his Facebook wall. And here we all are.

Following his hip replacement surgery, Irwin proposed to Julie while recovering in his hospital room. They already knew marriage was in the cards, but the pain killers finally gave Irwin the courage he needed to pop the question.
