In Fall 2020, Imdadul joined the lab at Columbia Medical Center as a postdoc where I was working as a technician for my gap years after college. Despite being socially distanced and double-masked, we immediately connected and started exploring New York City together. From weekend dates by the Brooklyn Bridge to strolls in Central Park, we wanted to be together as much as possible. Our love also had a practical component- life in NYC is complex, and having a partner to take on the challenges made everything seem more manageable. In less than one year after meeting, between the two of us we moved three times. Anyone who knows about moving in NYC knows that it can make or break a relationship! Once I matriculated into the MD-PhD program at Columbia, Imdadul continued to be my biggest support and best friend. We playfully debated about everything from science to philosophy to cooking techniques. We have grown together so much already. We got to know each other's families- mine in person, and his via FaceTime and broken Banglish. After a brief engagement, we got married in November 2024 in a small family ceremony. We want to now take the opportunity to share our joy and celebrate with friends, family, and other special people who have been in our lives at different times.
