The Wedding Feast

tali-mítsolətin (There is a feast going on)!

On Saturday, September 28th, we will be gathering for a feast with our family & friends to celebrate our recent elopement! We have chosen to elope in a private indigenous ceremony, on a date prior to this celebratory wedding feast. We hope to share some photos with all of you at this event! We are doing this in true family feast fashion, so if you would like to contribute a dish to the big meal please check out the FAQs section! (Not required)

How We Met

First comes 14 years of friendship...

We met in the spring of 2006, when we were in our mid 20's. We had all the cares in the world at that stage of adulthood and we both just really needed a friend. We lived across the street from each other in South Gardiner, Maine. We had been briefly introduced but hadn't had any other interaction since. Then one day out of the blue, Heather marched across the street and knocked on my door. When I opened it she asked (with real insistence in her voice) if we could go for a walk. I knew she wasn't going to take no for an answer, so that is where our story began. I moved away in 2008, and we tried to keep in touch every few years or so. The last time we had contact was in 2016. Then 2020 rolled around and while we were all trying to flatten the curve, she reached out to check in again. And much like that persistent knock at the door 14 years prior, she wasn't going to take no for an answer this time either. One message lead to another and we just never sat the conversation down again after that. And now here we are, with rings in hand, 4+ years later. Eighteen years ago, we never would have guessed this would be our story. We often giggle at the thought of what it would be like if we could zip back in time and tell our younger selves all about it.
