How We Met:

January 29, 2020

Julie and Daniel met on Bumble. Julie's sister made her promise to go on 3 dates when she returned to Florida after a Thanksgiving visit home. Julie begrudgingly agreed. The first two dates went...not so well. Julie can't even remember those guys names anymore. Daniel was the third date. He recently returned to Ocala after having spent 13 years in South Carolina. Daniel chose Mexican for the first date (surprising...we know) so they met at Las Margaritas in Ocala, Florida. It was chilly that January but neither of them complained when they stood outside for an hour talking after dinner. They still go for Mexican all the time, and Julie has never been more grateful that her sister forced those three dates on her.

Our Engagement Story (as told by Julie)

October 23, 2021

We were on vacation with friends in Charleston. It was supposed to be a beautiful weekend and I was so excited to spend it with Daniel and friends in an amazing city! The first night, Daniel came to me and said, "I wanted to propose to you in Charleston but the ring didn't come in so we have to come back next month, okay?" I was so excited! I admittedly had thought he might propose...all our friends were there and it seemed like a perfect weekend for it. I was only disappointed for a split second since he said we were coming back. I planned to enjoy the weekend with friends regardless. The next day we went to brunch and then Daniel suggested we all go for a walk down by the pineapple fountain (which we had been to the night before as well) and everyone agreed. We got there and I was taking a panoramic photo of the shoreline when he asked me if I had checked Facebook recently, I told him no, we're on vacation. He suggested I should check because there might be something to see on there. I finished the panoramic and switched to Facebook on my phone to look. I noticed he had tagged me in a photo; it was me, sleeping with him holding a ring box over my head. The caption said "Thinks she knows its happening, has somewhat of a clue, but has no idea it's happening in 6 days!" I was speechless as I turned to him to try and figure out what this meant, given what he had said the day before about the ring not being in... He was on one knee with the ring, in front of the fountain. It was magical. They tell me I didn't say yes, I said "you lied to me!" I promise, I was thinking yes the entire time!
