Do you believe in love at first sight? I do, but it took us a little longer... 1st look: Julie and I first met on a night out in San Francisco with some friends in September of 2014. Although that is how we first met, we didn't spend much time getting to know each other that night. 2nd glance: I was living at Steve Radovich's house with Steve Jones at the time and hosted a Halloween party, I was dressed as a banana and Julie came as an ice cream cone (insert banana split joke here). Yet again, we failed in getting to know each other, but I believe we did get our first picture together... 3rd time's a charm: We threw yet another party at Steve's house for New Years that year, and everyone wore onesies. That next morning (still in onesies), a group of us were drinking mimosas and playing card games, when Julie stopped by. We FINALLY got to talk a little and I felt like there was something special about her and wanted to know more. So the next day, I sent her a Facebook message: "Hey Julie, it was good seeing you yesterday, I think you should come hang out more often." She mentioned wanting to possibly go to Thailand for a graduation trip, and since I had spent a month there, I suggested we go to my favorite local Thai restaurant (Top Thai) and talk about it. I was nervous talking to her, but she seemed so relaxed and cool! I can still remember the feeling of looking at her across the table in awe, admiring the way her eyes sparkle when she smiles, like she's glowing. I knew immediately after that first date, that she was the one. Major credit goes to Chelsea Wilson, who was there playing matchmaker through all 3 steps above. Which makes her the matchmaker for 2 out of 3 Vittorias (Andrew, you're next!).
Barron had always talked about the house his grandfather used to own in Fort Bragg, where he would go every summer with his family. He has so many special memories there and was so excited when he found the house on airbnb for rent. We decided to go on a weekend get away with our friends Jason and Joanne the weekend before Christmas and the house happened to be available so we were headed to the coast! We got to Fort Bragg on a Friday night and Barron was so excited to be there. Saturday morning we all got up early and decided to go for a canoe ride across the river right below the house. The four of us paddled across to the empty beach overlooking the ocean. I knew Barron had spent many special moments with his family on this same beach. He asked Joanne to take a picture of us facing the ocean and before I knew it, he was down on one knee! I was shocked and ecstatic! Even with ALL the nudges I (and my family) had given Barron, I was still so very surprised :) We spent the rest of the day paddling down the river while drinking champagne, and then celebrating/eating/shopping/walking around the cute town of Fort Bragg. It was a wonderful weekend that we will never forget!
