We actually first met years ago in a homeschooling group on Kaua'i back in 2015, but we barely talked then. Fast-forward to Julie’s brother's wedding, where Josiah was one of the groomsmen and Julie was maid of honor, and that’s where our real story began. Even though we had technically met before, we hardly knew each other. Julie’s family had been teasing her about Josiah for a while, and coming back to Kaua'i for the wedding was the first time she was going to see him since all the teasing started—so the nerves were there. At the rehearsal dinner we only talked a little, mostly because Julie was trying to avoid Josiah, thinking he was getting teased as well and that things might be awkward. But everything changed the next day at the wedding. Conversation came easy, and we clicked in a way neither of us expected. When we danced to Can’t Help Falling in Love, that’s when we both realized something was happening. Josiah asked for Julie’s number, and that simple moment started everything. After that night, we kept talking long-distance—Josiah in Kaua'i and Julie working on the ranch in Colorado—and we officially started dating on December 9. Julie moved to Hawai'i on January 4, and since then we’ve had incredible moments as well as real challenges, but through it all, God has been the center of our relationship and the reason we’ve grown, stayed grounded, and made it through the hardest seasons. On November 16, Josiah proposed, and we’re getting married on April 18. Looking back, it still amazes us how God took a simple reconnection at a wedding and turned it into the beginning of our lives together.
