During LA Pride 2012, Layel was invited to a Leather Daddy Bar, where they met Julia for the first time. In a rush to get out of there, they snatched Julia's phone to give her their number, which caught Julia's attention. Layel noticed and decided to stay back to play pool with Julia and "let" her win. This sparked a three-month summer fling filled with nights out and visits to the Bay Area and LA. At the end of the summer, the taxing nature of long-distance relationships brought the fling to a halt. Throughout the years, they occasionally kept in touch and bonded over their love of art and culture. The COVID-19 shutdown brought them together, and their romance and connection strengthened. Fast forward to November 2022, they live on a 900-acre forest at Shelterwood Collective, an organization co-created by Layel and where Julia is building a community space. They live with their two dogs, Pilli and Amorcito, and community. Layel and Julia are excited to start a family, which begins with welcoming all of you to the table and celebrating their love.
