Julianne unexpectedly met Joe when she went to hang out at her dance friend Chelsea's apartment...where Joe happened to live. They quickly struck up a conversation about math, The Office, and Disney (obviously) before heading to a bar on the Upper East Side. Two months later, they randomly ran into each other at the SAME bar where Julianne gained the courage to ask for Joe's number. Their first date was a week later :)

The goal was to surprise Julianne. Joe enlisted Amanda and Ryan nine months in advance to help with the proposal. The plan was to propose in Long Island City, and Ryan and Amanda would be responsible for pictures, since Julianne's only request was for the proposal to be documented. As the date approached, Joe spent his afternoons after school going to New Hyde Park to buy the ring. The ring was obtained and a plan was set. The week before June 14th, Amanda would text a group of Julianne, Joe, Ryan, and Ariana and suggest a happy hour for that Friday in LIC. Multiple location suggestions were made, but they landed on Anable Boat Basin due to its scenic backdrop. Meanwhile, Joe contacted Angie, Julianne's sister, along with Chelsea and Jim to come celebrate at a restaurant after the proposal. Joe left work early on that Friday and met at Ryan's apartment to prepare. Once everyone was at Anable, they steered the conversation to suggest taking pictures on the dock. Julianne obliged, since she lives for the camera, but still wasn't thrown when all three of her friends had their cameras out recording the moment. That's when Joe got down on one knee.
