How We Met

"The first time I saw Julianne was at summer orientation for our college. The moment I laid eyes on her, I knew that she was the most beautiful woman in the world. After a few months, I finally worked up the courage to talk to her. When we were assigned to the same lab group in General Biology, I took a chance and asked her on a date to our school's production of "A Christmas Carol." Before our date, she had mentioned that she was having headaches and was out of Aleve. Trying to make the best impression I could, I got her some more Aleve and gave it to her along with flowers and chocolate when I picked her up for the date. She thought I was sweet and, for some reason, she said yes the next time I asked her out. Since then, there have been many more dates and even a proposal. Throughout our time together, I've fallen deeper and deeper in love with Julianne as I've learned just how amazing she really is. We've been through good times and hard times, and she's always been so kind, loving, and supportive. I couldn't ask for a better person to spend my life with." ~ Jonathan

The Proposal

06.10.20

"The proposal came as a complete surprise. From the start of our relationship, Jonathan has always been full of sweet surprises, and our engagement was no exception. We were planning to spend an evening in downtown Greenville at a place that is very special to us: Falls Park, which is where we first said we love each other. We had been planning to get engaged at some point in 2020, but I was not expecting it that summer. Little did I know, he was secretly planning a surprise proposal. On our way to Falls Park, I thought he had been acting a little funny and was stalling to get there. From bringing up random conversation topics to walking incredibly slow, something seemed a little off but I was not exactly sure what. As we were walking through the park, he gave me a sonnet he had written. I figured the sonnet explained his odd behavior because he was looking for a private place in the park to give it to me. I read it aloud and the last two lines described how sweet it is to share in God's love with one's wife. As I read the sonnet's end, he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes! When I think of the sweetest moment of my life, I think of this." ~Julianne
