We worked together as nurses in the ICU. Jarrod and I were friends for about a year before he finally asked me out. I'm sure my friends and family were sick of hearing about my "work crush" all the time- so everyone was excited. Our first date was at Sloppy Joe's on Mount Washington (we have a mutual love of dive bars). The next day Jarrod came over to my apartment.. and we never stopped hanging out!
Jarrod started Anesthesia school in January 2021 and commutes back and forth every weekend from Erie, PA. We always try to make the most of our weekends together. One of our favorite things to do is go for hikes in Boyce Mayview Park. So I thought nothing of it when Jarrod wanted to go for a walk on the trail that Saturday. My sister was texting me to go shopping with her that morning at Athleta for some cute activewear. To her dismay, I wouldn't try anything on and wouldn't let her buy me anything "for going with her". Little did I know she was trying to do me a favor and have me look nice for what was coming. I got home and we headed to the park. Jarrod and I took the trail down to our favorite spot by the creek. I bee-lined for the far corner and was looking down at the water when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and Jarrod was taking a step backwards and onto his knee. I can't even remember what was said before finally saying yes! Jarrod had sneakily planned to have his cousin Kalina there to take pictures of the whole event. She came prepared with props and champagne. It was the BEST day! We couldn't be more excited to celebrate with everyone! See you in September!
