On a cold and festive winter’s eve in San Francisco, Jared found himself 9th wheelin' it to a friend's holiday party at Andalu, a Spanish tapas restaurant in the Mission district. When he walked in, Jared spotted a table of four ladies… and one lady, in particular with a lovely, long neck. Mid-meal, Jared noticed — alas — their carafe of sangria was empty! Just the opening he was looking for. Being the friendly gentleman he is, Jared gallantly grabbed a bottle of his table’s sangria and brought it to the ladies. “It’s so sad to see a table full of girls without sangria,” Jared remarked. “Let me trade you.” Jared and Juli struck up a conversation. After a few minutes of laughs, Jared returned to his table so they could each finish their meals, and talk about who they had just met. Juli and her girlfriends wrapped up their dinner first, stood and distantly called out “bye! thanks for the drinks.” They waved, walked down the staircase and out the front door... where the valet was bringing their car. (Back then, city dwellers still owned cars and ride-sharing didn't yet exist.) "Waitasec!" This gave Jared just enough time to realize he didn’t want to lose sight of Juli, and ran down the stairs of Andalu, barely in time to catch her. “Where are you girls headed?” he inquired. “We’re going home,” the girls replied. “Come out with me, its the holidays. We're celebrating” Jared said. “We’ve got to get home. We have to be up early tomorrow to prep for our holiday party.” “Your holiday party is tomorrow?” Jared asked. “Perfect! I’m free!” Juli politely clarified, “that wasn’t an invitation!” Clearly, Juli was skilled in the arts... but with Jared’s looks and charm, he convinced Juli to at least give him her number. Three weeks later they had their first date and they've been loving every day afterwards!
