It took Fayetteville and the University of Arkansas for these two Texans to meet. I was a junior, busy balancing my part time jobs, my academics, and my social life, all while working towards my pilot license. I met Laurel at an ADPi function, and we quickly became friends. Really good friends actually. Such good friends that I made the cut, and at some unknown moment, she shifted into matchmaking gear and began plotting how to introduce me to her sister. So, Laurel begins telling both of us how great the other one was, and kept looking for the right moment to introduce us. That moment eventually came, and when we met, it wasn’t exactly magical. Well, to be honest, it was pretty magical for me, just not quite so magical for Jules. Not too long after our one-sided magical semi-date, her parents came to town for a football game. Laurel decided we were not moving fast enough and took it upon herself to help us along. So she invited me to join the family for dinner, without telling Jules until it was too late, that I was on the way over to meet everyone. I was more than a bit nervous, it was only the second time to meet Jules, and here I am about to meet her parents. I’m not saying the thought of BBQ played a part in me going, but free dinner is free dinner. While the Glover’s were very warm and welcoming, Jules was a bit less enthusiastic, at least at first. Over the course of dinner, which turned into 3 hours of laughter, fun, and getting to know everyone, I knew this could be something special. Fortune favors the bold, so right there in the Sassy’s parking lot, I invited Jules to come see Randy Rogers with me later that week. And just like that, I had a second official date. The rest is history, and we’ve managed to pack in quite a few stories over the last year, all of them leading up to a quiet rainy day with a bridge, a ring, and a question.
