Julianne and Brendon met in beautiful McCall, Idaho in July 2014. Sarah and Julianne were enjoying themselves at the Yacht Club bar, when Brendon walked into the bar. Sarah knew Brendon and his friends, but Julianne did not. Brendon then remembers being "cornered against the bar by this pretty, energetic woman in tennis shoes in the club." Julianne isn't so sure she "cornered" him. After this initial meeting, Julianne and Brendon spent a majority of the remainder of summer 2014 together before Julianne moved to Eugene in September 2014. Brendon won her over with endless adventures, sunset cruises on the Geckko, hikes to Snow Slide lake, and overnight camping trips to Burgdorf Hot Springs. In May 2015, Brendon moved from McCall to Eugene so the two could finally live in the same state after 9 months of long-distance. Brendon remembers this as an "ultimatum," but Julianne just remembers direct communication. The two started a life together in Oregon. Brendon worked as a scribe and started medical school, while Julianne finished her PhD in school psychology at the University of Oregon. This involved many late nights, FaceTime calls, lots of 45 minute drives between Eugene and Lebanon on I-5, instant pot meals, and seven different moves/apartments for the couple. In January 2019, a few months before Julianne's dissertation defense and Brendon's completion of the classroom years for medical school, Brendon proposed. In classic Brendon style, the two were climbing 1000s of feet up Diamond Peak in the backcountry before he popped the question. Julianne spent a majority of the trip complaining about being tired, hungry, or how she needed to work on her dissertation. There may have even been tears. However, Brendon persevered and dropped a knee in the pow to ask Julianne to marry him. Now, the two continue to juggle long-distance, studio apartments, and long shifts, but can't wait to celebrate their love in front of all their closest friends and family!
We look forward to celebrating without masks! We plan to have a fully vaccinated wedding. We ask that everyone attending is fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks prior to traveling to McCall. If vaccination is not possible for you or your family, we ask that you receive a negative covid test within 72 hours of the wedding.
