Julianna & Matthew

Our Story

Question

Before they met

Answer

Although they didn’t know it at the time, Julianna and Matt’s story began in Westchester County. Julianna grew up in Cortlandt Manor, Matt in Chappaqua, just 15 miles apart. Their schools were in different districts, but the high schools often faced off in sports. Julianna played soccer and lacrosse at Ursuline, while Matt wrestled at Horace Greeley. Since Ursuline was all girls, Julianna never saw Matt compete (probably for the best, wrestling singlets aren’t exactly flattering). Matt, on the other hand, turned up at plenty of Greeley girls’ soccer and lacrosse games to cheer on his friends, which meant he saw Julianna play a few times. Much to Julianna’s mom’s disappointment, she still remembers the rowdy fan section at those games (read: Matt and his friends).

Question

Falling in love

Answer

During senior year, they both got into Harvard, setting the stage for their first real meeting. Out of 17 possible freshman dorms, they ended up not only in the same one, but in the same hallway. On move-in day, before classes even began, they met and quickly hit it off, spending hours talking during freshman week. Matt wasted no time inviting Julianna as his date to the very first event he had: a frat rush party. The first photo they ever took together was at that event in September 2016, which you’ll find as the first picture in the Gallery section above. Hopefully you agree that they’ve glowed up since then. That first date event was the start of many, and by spring of freshman year they were officially dating. They continued the fun all through college, falling in love somewhere between late nights in the library together, conversations that never seemed to end, and building an incredible group of shared friends.

Question

Graduation and beyond

Answer

After graduation, they were ecstatic to both land jobs in Boston and transition into “the real world” together. They supported each other through long consulting days and used every bit of PTO to enjoy trips together. Over time, they became a natural part of each other’s families, sharing holidays, birthdays, and family trips. In the fall of 2022, Julianna moved to New York for work while Matt stayed in Boston. They became loyal Amtrak riders, prioritizing visits to see one another on most weekends. That chapter ended in June 2024, when Matt landed a job in New York and the two finally settled into their first apartment together. The following July, they traveled to Chamonix, France for the Tour du Mont Blanc, a seven-day, 110-mile trek around the Mont Blanc peak that winds through Italy and Switzerland. They wrapped up the adventure with a few days of relaxation back in Chamonix. After eight years of dating, Julianna suspected this might be “the trip”. Matt delivered, waiting until the hike was over and they were back in Chamonix to propose. She said yes! We are so grateful for your love and friendship over the years, and we couldn’t be more excited to have you join us for the next chapter in our story: our wedding at Lyndhurst Mansion in June 2026!
