An Orthodox Christian wedding is a deeply spiritual and sacred celebration, rich in tradition and meaning. 1. The Betrothal The ceremony begins with the Betrothal, where the couple exchanges rings and is blessed by the priest, symbolizing their commitment to one another and to God. 2. The Crowning In the Crowning, the couple is crowned as "king and queen" of their home, symbolizing their new roles and their shared responsibility to lead their family in faith and love. 3. The Common Cup The couple shares a cup of wine, symbolizing their unity in life and in faith. This moment represents their commitment to support each other through all of life’s joys and challenges. This sacred union is a witness to the eternal love and grace of God, and the vows exchanged are seen not just as promises to each other, but as vows made in the presence of God, their families, and their community.
