We were set up by a mutual friend, first she gave Ben my number, which made for some awkward texts because I had never met him. Then for weeks I tried to dodge her matchmaking, but one night I found myself with nothing to do and nobody around so I finally accepted her invitation to go hang out with Ben and his friends. I brought Giselle, a 6-month-old baby at the time, with me. She pretty much choose Ben long before I did. Somehow she just knew. There were 5 people sitting down in Ben's living room that night, including one of her favorite people, and also a guy who whad a young daughter, they all wanted to hold her and get her attention. She could have cared less. Giselle sat there transfixed on Ben from the minuter she saw him until the minute we left. She wouldn't let anyone but Ben even hold her. I was a little amazed but mostly embarrassed, I mean my baby wouldn't stop obsessing over this guy who I barely knew, and her strange behavior seemed so obvious to me. I couldn't get it out of my mind after I got home that night. I really wasn't expecting it to turn into anything, but after meeting Ben something clicked for both Giselle and I, and soon we were spending every free minute together... and I hope that never changes.
We had talked about getting married and had looked at rings, but I still waiting for the moment he would finally ask me. We went for a drive one day to Quabbin Reservoir to walk around, but the baby fell asleep so we couldn't go far. Finally Ben parked at a beautiful spot by an overlook and we got out. Just as I rounded the stone statue I saw Ben get down on one knee. I still think that that is the most breathtaking view and he would have been hard pressed to choose a better spot. I love that that place now has so much meaning for us.
