We worked side-by-side on brunch shifts at a local highly-regarded hipster cafe for four years - he slinging Bloody Marys at the bar, she baking biscuits and frying apple cider donuts in the kitchen - just as friends. Until a summer staff party at the Asbury beach lead us to talking about contemporary political history, a conversation we continued over a dinner he cooked, and we realised we had a sleeper hit on our hands. 1,255 shared home-cooked dinners later, we're altar-bound.
I looked at Chris one day last April and said, "I kind of like lockdown. It means I get to spend every day with you." Chris said, "I was about to say the same thing." For a year starting March 2020 in Asbury Park and ending the following March in London, we spent nearly 24 hours a day, every day, just hanging out with each other, and it was bliss. When Chris dropped to one knee at sunset on the beach in December 2020 and proposed, saying "yes" was the most natural thing I could think of. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Farmingdale!
