How We Met

August 21, 2016

“We met at a Bible study where I noticed him sitting alone and said hello, striking up a conversation. He seemed to be such a nice guy, but so very quiet! We didn’t really get to know each other well until the next spring when we spent a lot of time together going on adventures with our group of friends. I started to realize that there might be something between us..." "On July 4th we danced together for the first time as fireworks popped in the distance. Still undecided where I would be attending college in the fall, I told him I thought we should get to know each other more before we began a relationship. He told me he could wait forever, and that he would talk to my dad as soon as I was ready. Two weeks into the semester, I realized that I had been blind to the fact that God had been directing us together, that he was the answer to my prayers, and that I was falling in love for the very first time! He asked my dad for permission to court me, and that was the beginning of our journey through life together.” - Juliane “She walked through the door to Bible study one fall evening with her curly auburn hair and cheery smile, and I fell in love with her. I have loved her quietly this whole time..." "One day last summer, I woke up and realized God was showing me that she was The One. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, no question about it! I asked her out on July 4th, but she made me wait another two months before she finally said yes - I'm sure she was denying the feelings that she had for me all along!" "I had to fight hard to win her heart, and we have gone through our fair share of tribulations and trials, but it has been so worth it! All these months later, and I still want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life!” - Hunter

The Proposal

April 30th, 2018

I had two finals that Monday, and Hunter told me that we should go out for a date to relax after I was done. He had lost a playful bet to me, and owed me sushi from a few weeks before, so I came home that afternoon, and got all dressed up. We started the evening at our Happy Place: the bridge over the train tracks in Laramie, Wyoming. We’ve often gone there, and that old bridge holds lots of special memories for the two of us. The weather was perfect, with God holding back the rain that had been predicted. It was early evening, and we were talking through life as we walked up to the bridge. I asked a stranger to take a picture of us, and Hunter thought that I had somehow found him out! Fortunately, I was completely clueless, and did not expect anything more than a walk, some window shopping, and sushi later on. Hunter stood with his arms wrapped around me, and we leaned against the railing, looking down at the trains far below. I felt him reach into his shirt pocket, then he pulled away and I turned around to ask where he was going. There he was, down on one knee, holding a diamond ring! “Juliane Woodward, will you marry me?” he asked. I was completely surprised, but joyfully shouted, “Yes!” and fell into his arms. I had always thought that when he proposed, I would cry, but my heart was so full of joy and happiness that I couldn’t stop laughing! From that moment on, our lives changed, and it suddenly felt like this was real: we were making the biggest, and the best decision of our lives! (He still owes me sushi!)
