The story of how we met is a bit funny. It all started at a youth event called McPow. McPow is a youth event for all churches within the area to serve God in places of need in the community. Before I had met Chris, I thought he was kind of a jerk that was begging for attention. This was before I had actually spoken to him though. Chris and I met towards the end of this event at a shelter. It was here that he decided to come talk to me, which at the time, I was dreading. As we got to talking more, I realized that he was actually pretty funny. Moments after we began talking, Chris was assigned to the same job that I was working on. Apparently that was Chris' doing. Our job was to hang up a bunch of clothing onto organized racks. Me and a few others had almost finished the job before Chris started to help. Chris tried to hang one shirt on the rack when it fell apart ruining all of our previous work. He did help fix it and we managed to finish the job anyways. Once we finished, we had some spare time to kill. While he was showing me something on his phone he looked at me and said, "Since you already have my phone in your hands, why don't you put your number in?" Without thinking much of it, I went ahead and gave him my number. Little did I know, that was the day I met my future husband.
Julian and I had long been talking about getting engaged. So over the summer, i worked many hours to be able to afford the perfect ring. I took Julian to multiple jewelry stores just for "fun" to make sure i got the perfect one. Once i figured out what she liked, i got in contact with an old family friend and had him help make it just right. Once i had the ring, it was as simple as finding the right time and place. I planned out a large trip to Chattanooga that would insure that we would be dressed in something nice. Ironically it wasn't a week later that Julian suggested a nearly identical trip to the exact same place. I used this to my advantage to catch her off guard. We started off the trip with the Hunter Museum of Art. While we were looking around at all the art work, i was trying to find a good spot to ask the big question. Julian however seemed to want to move swiftly through the galleries, making it impossible to set up a camera and get on a knee in time. By the end of the museum i began to get nervous. I was afraid that i was missing my shot. I'm glad i waited though, for once we walked outside i saw the spot. There was an overlook of the Tennessee River with art work running down the hill. I got her to come down there with me. While we were there, i pointed to something in the distance, set up the camera, got on one knee, and waited. When she turned back towards me, she looked stunned. I asked her then to marry me. She was so shocked that she couldn't make out the word yes fully, but i knew what she meant. I put the ring on her finger and we both hugged. I wouldn't have changed a thing about that day.
