There wasn't much that we had going on in our love lives. The story began at the point where it was going to be just us and God. The funny thing about it all? We were sold on the idea that this was going to be the rest of our lives. Our friends, our family, and God. Little did we know that a particular friend along the way was going to catch our attention in a way we would have never suspected. Alicia and Julian had faced their road on the path of Christianity with soft hearts and a forehead of flint. Carrying themselves to the best they knew how. Under the obedience and the loving care of their Father in heaven. A girl from Atlanta, Georgia moved to Denver, Colorado, mile high city, for the purposes of her job that was available in the area. Julian had moved from Los Angeles, California to Denver, Colorado to be able to help the church that was planted there. From then on, Julian knew of Alicia and Alicia knew of Julian. In the beginning, that was the narrative. Julian was just someone who went to the same church that Alicia went to and Alicia was just someone who went to the same church that Julian went to. Nothing more, nothing less. However, on a fateful night, as God would have it, the two would face hardships. Separate hardships, but hardships nonetheless. Is it not in those moments where hardship surrounds us that we need the people around us the most? The two found each other in the hardships that they faced and, sooner than later, they became more than just church members who just knew of each other. Rather, they became church members who knew each other. As time went on, their friendship would continue to blossom. Going from the hardship of life to the enjoyment of the company of one another. Laughing, playing, joy, and tears were shared amongst the two of them. Eventually, they went on a date where things went awry. He was late, she liked punctuality, and he made up for it in his own way. Though the night started as a disaster, truly things were magical by the end of the night. As a kind gesture, without any additional intentions, the next day after church, he washed and vacuumed her car. Little did she know that he used this as an opportunity to place a note outlining the enjoyment he had on the date alongside a stuffy meant just for her. And little did he know that this would catch her attention. Months would go by in their relationship with one another. Though platonic and mutual in enjoyment, the interest in the air was so palpable that you could cut it with a spoon. Eventually, through much advice and prayer, the two made it known to themselves what people around them knew about them. The interest that they had? It was mutual. Julian knew that he couldn't play games and had to make his intentions known quickly. After much more advice, prayer, and even a call to her mother asking for her blessing, on May 18th, 2025, Julian asked Alicia to be his girlfriend. She said yes. Many more laughs and adventures were made together. Blind Mario Kart, a movie in the park, traveling to Boulder, paint by stickers, and many virtual double dates with friends on Zoom who were dying to meet the woman that captured Julian's heart. This is just to name a few. However, it wasn't a date that made Julian know that this was the woman of his dreams. On May 31, 2025, they were supposed to go on a double date. Their very first one as a dating couple. However, Julian fell ill and nursed a massive headache. In response, Alicia fashioned together a "get well" kit for the boy and, at that moment, Julian knew that there needed to be a ring on her finger. After many more months and much more advice, Julian knew it was time. He bought a ring, built up the nerve, had brunch with her mother, asked for her blessing for her hand in marriage, and on November 29th, 2025, the anniversary of their first date, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. If the upcoming wedding hasn't made it obvious, she said yes.
