Trevor and Julie’s journey began at a fraternity event where Trevor’s kind eyes and sweet nature immediately drew Julie in; and Trevor was taken aback by Julie’s beauty and confident demeanor. Their first date at Kathy's Restaurant in Flushing, Michigan, was special, especially when Trevor patiently helped Julie decide what to order. This was when they realized their life aspirations were so similar. Over the past six years, they’ve built a strong relationship, transitioning from living in separate cities to now making a home in Chicago. They cherish their anniversary month adventures, from visiting Niagara Falls to enjoying spontaneous trips to celebrate their love! Trevor loves spending time with Julie’s family, filled with sunny days, grilling, and laughter. Julie has always felt so welcome in Trevor’s family, enjoying playing competitive games and having engaging (and sometimes silly) conversations at family gatherings. From the beginning, Trevor embraced Julie’s Brazilian culture. In fact, he has recently been learning Portuguese to connect even more with her family! Julie appreciates this act of love, as it reflects his excitement and respect for her family and culture. As they prepare for their wedding, they’re eager to celebrate their love with friends and family, with people traveling from nearby Chicago to as far as Morocco. Julie can’t wait for Trevor’s reaction when she walks down the aisle, and Trevor can’t wait to officially call her his wife, marking the start of their forever together!
On a perfect 80-degree day, Trevor executed his very memorable proposal. A proposal that had many months of careful planning. He told Julie that his very religious friends planned to be in town for a conference and wanted to meet at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Julie was nervous but excited about the prospect of meeting more of Trevor's friends. The day of the supposed meetup, Julie was conflicted about her outfit. Ultimately, she elected to wear a dress that showed no waist and also chose to skip her makeup, worried about looking overly dressed. As they walked, Julie started to feel something was off when they didn’t head towards the zoo but instead moved toward the Alfred Lily Garden. She remembered how Trevor seemed completely fine with her taking a few extra minutes to get ready, which now only heightened her suspicion. It was then she realized why he was wearing a nice shirt they had just bought that week and why Ed Sheeran's “Perfect” was playing in the background. In a beautiful moment, Trevor got down on one knee and shared the most heartfelt words Julie had ever heard. Overwhelmed with emotion, she began to cry. And then she spotted her best friends, Emma and Izzy, hiding in a bush, recording the entire scene. With excitement, Julie couldn’t contain herself as she cried and screamed in joy. Trevor, with a grin, reminded her, “Are you gonna put on the ring?” It was truly magical, the culmination of of a beautiful day and the perfect surprise that captured their love story.
