From the Sheraton hotel, the incline is about a 15 minute walk to one of Pittsburgh’s best and “classic” views of the city! It’s a gentle trolley that brings you up to “Mount Washington”, very close to where our church service will be held!
James and Juliana’s personal favorite attraction, the Phipps Conservatory is located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh and has some of the most beautiful botanical gardens (inside and outside) you will ever see!
Almost every summer, James and his family loved to take in a ball game at Pittsburgh’s beloved baseball stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates will be in town the weekend of our wedding, hosting the Texas Rangers if you’re interested in attending a sporting event while in Pittsburgh!
One of James and Juli’s favorite museums is the Carnegie Art Museum, located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. It’s home of contemporary art along with a permanent collection of paintings, sculptures, and more. Along with the art museum, attached to the same building is also the Carnegie Natural History Museum, home to over twenty million objects and artifacts, most notably 230 dinosaur fossils.
In the downtown area, there is also the Andy Warhol Museum, which is an exclusive and permanent exhibition on the famous American Post-war Pop Artist. With a collection of over 4,000 works ranging from media to sculptures and everything in between, this seven-floor museum is a perfect afternoon to explore a beloved Pittsburgh native and one of the most influential artists of the last century.
Located downtown, the Kamin Science center is the most visited museum in Pittsburgh! Home of a planetarium, observatory, giant cinema theater, “Sportsworks”, and multiple permanent and temporary exhibits, this museum truly has everything.
Located in Highland Park, the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium features an African Savanah, Asian forest, bear park, and much more. It is the perfect family friendly activity!
