Soon after beginning our first year of college, at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS), we were both in the same company and became extremely close. We sat next to each other in Physics class and we quickly started to hang out and get homework help together every day. By the end of September, we were nearly inseparable and we ended up going on our first date (with a group) on October 7th which was NAPS Parent's Weekend. We stayed up the whole night and talked and started dating the next day, Juliana's birthday, and have been together ever since.

The summer before our final year at our respective academies, we spent the summer visiting our families together. First, we went to Georgia to visit Luis' family. During this trip, we had so much quality time with each other and with Luis' family. On August 1st, we spent the first part of the day shopping with the family and then we got all dressed up for dinner and decided to go to church just the two of us. After church, we walked in a lovely garden where some heartfelt words were exchanged before we officially got engaged. Juliana was almost unaware until she saw the photographer hiding behind a tree.
