Lay of the Land in Pinilla

Where to Stay in Pinilla, Costa Rica: Pinilla is a vibrant beach town on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, known for its beautiful beaches, lively energy, and variety of accommodations. To help you choose the best place to stay, here’s a breakdown of the four main areas: 1. Hacienda Pinilla This is the heart of the action. A gated beach and golf resort community about 20–25 minutes by car from Tamarindo Town Center. It’s ideal for guests who want a peaceful retreat setting while still being a short drive from wedding events. With luxury villas, private beach clubs, walking trails, and serene surroundings, it’s a perfect “home base” for relaxation and family groups. 2. Tamarindo Hill Area (North of Town) Set just above Tamarindo on a hill, this area offers panoramic ocean views, peaceful villas, and a more residential feel. It's best for those who want privacy but still want to be just a 5–10 minute golf cart ride or quick drive from town. 3. Playa Langosta (South of Town) A quieter beach neighborhood just south of Tamarindo, Playa Langosta offers a more laid-back vibe with luxury condos, beach homes, and boutique hotels. You’re about a 5-minute golf cart ride to the town center, or a 15–20 minute walk along the beach or road.

In the more touristy areas of the country, many Costa Ricans speak English, but if you’re planning to travel off the beaten path, you might consider learning some common phrases in the local language.
