How We Met

The story goes that Julia & David met at the Ghost & Goblin's Race, while David was wearing a banana costume and they both were lurking around the post-race pizza table. But the tale also includes a chance incident in which they met at the gas station while having difficulties filling up a tank. What we do know, is that their first date was at Lucky's Taproom & Eatery, which was then followed by local beverages at Toxic Brewery.

Official Relationship Status

It was a Wednesday night at Blind Bob's, which means it was Karaoke Night, the best day of the week. David thought Julia had the most beautiful voice in the land, and could not imagine leaving that night without asking the girlfriend/boyfriend question to solidify their relationship.

The Proposal

Cue to our second Boundary Waters canoe trip. Our nine day adventure was underway; on day seven (SEVEN!!), we luckily secured our campsite on Knife Lake, which was the same site we stayed at during our first trip together. We loved this site because of the big rock overlook you could hike to in order to catch a stunning sunset. The wind was roaring at high speeds all day, you could hear the thunder rolling in, and lightning was striking in the distance. Despite the conditions, we did not want to miss the opportunity for our favorite sunset spot. So we brought our rain jackets, headlamps, and backpacks up to our sunset-rock-spot to hopefully catch some sort of view. What follows is us on the edge, with David on one knee, while he reads his poem to Julia, who is in complete shock at the event taking place, with the most epic background of weather. The journey of the ring was quite something-- the miles traveled by vehicle, the lakes traveled by paddle, the portages traveled by foot, and the six previous campsites housed. It was definitely something we will never forget.

For all the days along the way
