Flight
Oakland International Airport
We HIGHLY recommend flying into Oakland International Airport, if possible. It is on the same side of the bay as the wedding locations, and you will end up spending a decent amount of money on an uber/lyft. This is less of an issue if you are renting a car for your stay. Oakland International Airport is only a 15 minute drive from the reception site and Jack London. Guests can take BART (Bay Area Subway) to and from downtown Oakland for about $10 or take an Uber or Lyft for around $10-15.
Flight
San Francisco International Airport
San Francisco International Airport is approximately a 45 minute drive from Oakland. BART (Bay Area Train/subway) is available directly from SFO to Downtown Oakland as well for approximately $12. Uber or Lyft will cost around $40-50. This airport is a better option then Oakland airport ONLY if the flights are cheaper and you are planning to rent a car (since you may end up spending $100 to and from in taxi/uber fees).

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)
Available to and from Oakland International Airport (OAK) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). After departing the Airport Shuttle (free) you will need to purchase a ticket before entering BART.

This is a great hotel option for guests who would like to kick-back a bit in their downtime and enjoy the bay from the East Side! This hotel is situated right along the bay and is a 15 minute drive from Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral AND is along the waterfront of the Bay. It is also about a 10 minute drive to Lake Merritt and downtown Oakland. For the post-wedding Brunch on Sunday in Walnut Creek, the drive from this hotel is approximately 30 minutes. Rooms start at $178 per night.

We LOVE this hip new hotel that just popped up in Oakland near Lake Merritt. This hotel is walking distance to Lake Merrit, Jack London Square, the Oakland Museum of California, and to many of Dimitri and Julia's favorite restaurants in Oakland. It is a 10 minute drive from Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a 25 minute drive from the Post-Wedding Brunch at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek on Sunday morning. Rooms start at $170 per night.
