Travel Note
As of 2025, U.S. passport holders need a Brazilian tourist e-Visa before traveling. The process is online and straightforward. Currently, the processing time is listed as 2 to 5 business days and costs about 80 dollars. It is recommended to apply at least 45 days in advance. Passports must be valid for at least six months, and you may need to show return travel and accommodation details. Visas are not available on arrival, so be sure to have your e-Visa approved before flying.
House Or Rental
Rio has many lovely neighborhoods with great options for hotels and Airbnbs. Depending on your travel style, we recommend: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Leme – beachfront, main tourist area with plenty of options for restaurants and shopping Flamengo, Botafogo, Laranjeiras, Glória, Catete – well situated between Copacabana/Ipanema and downtown Rio Barra da Tijuca – newer, quieter area with a long beachfront, yet a bit further from main tourist atractions All wedding events are within a reasonable distance of these neighborhoods, and you’ll find a wide range of accommodations in each. Important: As our wedding is during New Year’s week, hotels and Airbnbs fill up quickly. We warmly recommend booking early to secure your preferred stay and best rates.
Flight
Since our wedding falls during the busy holiday season, it is likely best to secure your ticket several months in advance. We recommend using KAYAK.com or Google Flights to compare prices across multiple booking websites. Most international flights arrive at Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport (GIG).
