Though we both attended UCSB (Go Gauchos!), our paths didn’t cross until later in San Francisco, where we unknowingly lived across the street from each other. Our friends hosted Powercake Fridays (pancakes before work), and one day, Julia grumbled, “Boohoo, I want to go on a hike today and no one will go with me.” Steven popped his head into the kitchen and said, “I can hike today!" and we've been inseparable ever since. We’ve rafted the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon twice, traveled the world, moved to Seattle, rescued Barbara the cat and Wilma the dog, scared off a bear in Yosemite, sailed the British Virgin Islands and around Croatia, and started an annual tradition called SteveFair—a weekend of boating and shenanigans. These adventures have deepened our connection and made us even more excited for the future together. Julia’s family has a home in Oxnard and it’s become our favorite escape. During COVID, we spent an extended stay there, soaking in the sun-filled, quiet, and casual charm of the area. It’s where Steven famously refuses to wear shoes and is a place where time slows down and simple joys come into focus. We’re so excited to share this special place with you and can’t wait to celebrate together in a spot that means so much to us.
