We met at a beer fest, and to anyone who knows us that isn't so out of the ordinary. Bobby was working the Hawks tent with his coworker, Julia and her best friend Jimin went to attend the Summer Beer Fest at Historic Old Fourth Ward Park in Atlanta. We visited the Hawks tent to get some free swag, which is when Julia noticed Bobby's green eyes and was smitten. They were wandering around, only to notice that Bobby and his coworker were setting up a beer pong tournament. Julia and Jimin, better known as "The Champs" that day, entered and spent the remainder of the fest battling other attendees only to come in second place at the end of the day. Jimin then left to go sit by the music, while Julia was asked to play another game with some spectators. After that game had ended, Julia, or better known as "Drunk Julia" at that point, muddled up the courage to go tell Bobby he was cute and should give her his number. That day will go down in history as the greatest beer fest ever, and Julia and Bobby have continued to go every year after to reminisce on that special day.
Bobby had never been out of the country, and was turning 30 in 2018. Julia wanted to make it a special birthday and planned a trip to Europe in late August. The trip was starting in Lisbon, Portugal with following stops in Amsterdam, Croatia, and Italy. The first day of the trip was spent tracking down a kayaking group and Julia getting sick on the ocean due to dehydration. The second went a little smoother, taking a train ride to a popular beach and exploring a street festival with lots of food and drinks. That night, they had planned a dinner with a stop at a popular viewpoint to see the city. Julia was weary, and asked Bobby if he was sure he wanted to wear pants in the 90 degree weather when we were walking straight up a hill to get to the viewpoint. He ensured her he was okay, and little did she know it was to secure the ring in a zippered pocket. They got to the viewpoint at sunset, and Bobby began expressing how lucky he felt to be sharing such a special moment and that he wanted to continue sharing these moments for the rest of their lives. Julia watched as he got down on one knee in shock and pulled out the ring, while asking her to marry him. In shock she said, "no, wait, yes, of course," with tears of happiness beginning to roll down her cheek. They spent the night enjoying a wonderful and romantic dinner, and sharing the news with friends and family.
