World Museum of Mining

World Museum of Mining

155 Museum Way, Butte, MT 59701
, (406) 723-7211

We highly recommend visiting the WMM and taking part in the underground tour. The World Museum of Mining is a great look at the history of mining and mining technology, but the best feature of the museum is the Underground Mining Tour. Fit yourself with a hard hat and lantern, and descend 100 feet below the surface of the earth to learn about the Orphan Girl Mine and the underground mining process.

Butte Trolley Tour

Butte Trolley Tour

1000 George Street, Butte, MT 59701

The Trolley is a great way to see Butte and learn its magnificent history. You'll explore the historic district learning about Butte's industrial, social, and architectural history.

Ridge Waters Water Park

Ridge Waters Water Park

3103 South Utah Avenue, Butte, MT 59701
, (406) 497-6585

Lazy river, zero depth pools, and plenty of sun.

Thompson Park - Old Milwaukee Railroad Trail

Thompson Park - Old Milwaukee Railroad Trail

Butte, MT 59701
, (406) 494-2147

Our home is located in Butte's Thompson Park the only municipal park on Federal Lands. We ride our bikes on the Milwaukee Trail throughout the summer. Check out Linked Adventures (https://linkedadventures.com/) for bike rentals and shuttle to and from the park.

Norris Hot Springs

Norris Hot Springs

42 Montana 84, Norris, MT 59745
, (406) 685-3303

Norris Hot Springs is one of our favorite day trips. The "water of the gods" is relaxing, the vibe is laid back, and they have a great food and drink selection. In the evening, there is live music. Very chill and very wonderful.

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort

1500 Fairmont Road, Anaconda, MT 59711
, (406) 797-3241

Fifteen minutes from Butte, this resort has something for everyone - golf, indoor and outdoor soaking pools, and a pretty rad water slide. Pools are open daily early to late.

Virginia City

Virginia City

Virginia City, MT 59729

A day trip to Virginia City offers plenty of opportunities to see and explore southwest Montana. This little town is a well preserved gold rush ghost town with modern amenities and family-friendly activities.

Philipsburg

Philipsburg

Philipsburg, MT 59858

Philipsburg is a short drive from Butte along the Pintler Scenic Route. Philipsburg is home to our favorite Montana Brewery, Philipsburg Brewing, and one of the best candy stores in the area. The area offers many activities including hiking and sapphire mining.

Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

25 Lewis & Clark Caverns Road, Whitehall, MT 59759
, (406) 287-3541

This is a great daytime activity for the geologist in all of us. A fairly easy hike leads to the entrance to a pretty marvelous collection of stalactites and stalagmites.

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park

MT
(307) 344-7381

Yellowstone is Risik's favorite place on earth. Yellowstone is probably a bit more than a day trip, but a worthwhile place to visit. We love early morning drives through the Lamar Valley and hiking in to the many geothermal areas.

For all the days along the way
