We're Married!

Julia and Matthew tied the knot on August 9th, 2020 in Charleston, South Carolina. They are so grateful to all those that celebrated with them virtually and look forward to celebrating with you in May!

The Way We Met

August 2015

Julia and Matthew first met in the beginning of their junior year at Boston College while traveling to Gillette Stadium for the first game of the football season. They were introduced to each other through mutual friends at the game and struck up a conversation on the way back to Chestnut Hill. The conversation continued into a party that evening where Julia and Matthew were both surprised to find out how much they had in common, and how easy it was to talk to one another. At the end of the night they parted ways, leaving a lasting impression on one another before Matthew left the next day to study abroad in Scotland. Fast forward to the start of their senior year at BC, Julia and Matthew reconnected and quickly became friends. Throughout the course of many football tailgates and nights spent at Mary Ann's, their friendship continued to grow. By the end of senior year, they both could not deny a connection had formed between them. After graduation, Matthew moved to NYC and Julia stayed home in New Jersey to study for her nursing boards. After two months of texting and phone calls, Matthew and Julia reconnected in NYC to celebrate passing her nursing boards. When the night was over, they shared their first kiss and Matthew asked Julia on their first date.

The First Date(s)

July 30, 2016

A week after Matthew asked Julia out, Julia took the train into NYC to meet Matthew on the Upper East Side for a breakfast date at Bluestone Lane. Afterward, they went to Central Park and spent hours walking and talking. On Monday (two days later), Matthew took the train out to New Jersey to take Julia out to dinner. He then met her family and friends AND watched that night's episode of the Bachelor with them. From that point on Julia and Matthew were inseparable, spending 3-4 days of the week together going on dinner dates and spending weekends in New Jersey and NYC. They said "I love you" just three weeks after their first date, and knew they wanted to spend forever together just a few weeks following that. Hey, when you know, you know!!

The Proposal

July 10, 2018

Matthew planned a trip for himself and Julia to Acadia National Park following Matthew's family reunion in Boston. This would be the last time they would be together before Matthew's big move from NYC to Chicago. After a few great days hiking and exploring Bar Harbor, Matthew planned a nice dinner for the two of them as what Julia thought was a "farewell dinner". After dinner, Matthew insisted on going to Otter Cliffs to watch the sunset. Julia did not want to go as there was rain in the forecast, and they had a great view of the sunset from their B&B! However, after a lot of coaxing, she reluctantly agreed. Matthew then popped the question on Otter Cliffs as the sun was setting. Julia had a few moments of disbelief and shock before finally realizing what was happening and said "YES"! We are so excited to get to spend the rest of forever together!
