Julia flew to California in October 2023 for her friend's wedding in Santa Clarita. A tall, handsome young man caught her eye. She had never met her friend's brother, except in his LinkedIn photo (which, as usual, did not do justice to the real person). She hoped they might find one another at the reception, but had decided in her heart to not initiate anything. The right guy would initiate with her, she thought. It was at the taco line that they both happened to be the only two to walk up at the same time (he was coming for seconds, she for firsts) -- and a conversation began. This conversation was followed by an invitation from Kyle for Julia to sit with him at his table and continue the conversation. Julia did not want to impose or take anyone's seat, but Kyle said he could solve that problem: he picked up Julia's chair and moved it to his table. A very forward gesture that Julia found quite attractive in a man. As the night went on, with dancing and a sparkler send-off, Kyle and Julia continued finding moments to be near one another. By the end of the night, numbers were exchanged and the next evening as Julia boarded her flight, the two of them had their first phone call. Within a few weeks, Julia flew out to CA again over Thanksgiving vacation. During this trip, Kyle officially asked Julia to be his girlfriend. After months more of video calls and more trips to visit one another, Kyle decided to move out to PA. It was mid-June of 2024, and it would be nine more months before Kyle would ask Julia to marry him in March 2025. (To see this story, check out Gallery.)
