Tom Schuurman, the bride’s dad, has the honor of officiating today’s ceremony. Tom and Kalon first met when Kalon stopped by to ask about the old barn falling down in the yard—something that turned into years of working together and building a strong relationship. Tom is the kind of person everyone hopes to have in their life—kind, selfless, hardworking, and genuinely good to his core. To Julia, he’s not just her dad, but her biggest supporter and role model. A true daddy’s girl, she couldn’t imagine anyone more meaningful to stand up here and marry them today. It means the world to both Julia and Kalon to have him play such a special role in this moment.
Arend Schuurman
Best Man
Arend is Kalon’s best man and one of his closest friends. Over the years, their friendship has grown into something truly special, built on loyalty, laughter, and shared memories. Arend is incredibly kind, loving, and one of the smartest people we know. He is active in both band and choir and will be heading off to college this fall. As Julia’s little brother and lifelong partner in loving Scooby-Doo, Garfield and Friends, it means the world to have him standing beside us on our wedding day.
Jessie Rouintree
Maid of Honor
Jessie has been Julia’s best friend since they were eight years old, and from the very beginning, their friendship has been built on horses, muddy boots, and a shared love of adventure. Whether riding, working with horses, wandering through the woods, or quoting Lord of the Rings, they have always felt most at home together outdoors. No matter how much time passes or how busy life gets, they can go months without talking and pick up right where they left off like no time has passed at all. Jessie is steady, loyal, and full of quiet strength, the kind of friend everyone hopes to have. Julia cannot imagine this day without her by her side and is so grateful for a friendship that has grown right alongside her.
Isaiah Horton

Isaiah is one of Kalon’s groomsmen and Julia’s stepbrother. While he and Kalon are still getting to know each other, we’re so happy to have him be part of this special day. Isaiah is a dedicated member of his football team and brings great energy and strength to everything he does. Kalon especially enjoys spending time with Isaiah during family game nights, where they can usually be found playing card games together. We’re grateful he’ll be standing with us as we celebrate this next chapter.
Grace Schuurman

Grace is Julia’s sister and lifelong best friend. From the very beginning, they have shared a bond that only sisters can understand. When Grace was little and refused to eat breakfast, Julia would sit with her and make sure she ate before school and that kind of love has carried through every stage of life. Grace has a huge heart and a deep love for horses and working with them. She also shares Julia’s love for Scooby-Doo, Garfield, and Friends, along with a special soft spot for Julia’s dog, Ranger. Growing up side by side, they have always been close, and Julia cannot imagine this day without her sister standing beside her.
Elijah Weaver

Elijah is Kalon’s oldest cousin and someone he has shared countless memories with over the years. Like many of the Weaver family gatherings, you can almost always find Elijah and Kalon outside playing basketball with the rest of the cousins. The two of them love to mess with each other every chance they get, keeping things competitive and full of laughter. Their bond has been built on years of family time, sports, and playful teasing. We’re so happy to have Elijah standing with Kalon as we celebrate this special day.
Ariel Burkey

Ariel is one of Julia’s dear friends from their time at University of Findlay, where they first met and bonded over their shared love of animals and big dreams for the future. Even after Julia transferred to Western Kentucky University during her second year, their friendship continued to grow. While Ariel’s plans have evolved over time, her dedication to working with animals has always remained strong. Though she may be a little shy, she has a special way of encouraging Julia to step outside her comfort zone and try new things. Julia treasures their time together and is so grateful to have Ariel standing by her side on this incredible day.
Noah Weaver

Noah is Kalon’s cousin and someone he has shared countless memories with growing up. The two of them both loved playing basketball, and at nearly every family celebration, you could find them outside with their other cousins playing game after game. When they were younger, they spent so much time together, building a close bond through sports, laughter, and family traditions. Those memories have remained special over the years. We’re so happy to have Noah standing with Kalon as we celebrate this exciting new chapter.

Bryce has been one of Julia’s closest friends since seventh grade. They served together on their FFA team in high school, with Bryce as president and Julia as vice president, and their friendship only grew stronger through those years and beyond. Bryce is one of the funniest people Julia knows, and his humor and energy make him so much fun to be around. He is incredibly smart and deeply dedicated to whatever he sets his mind to. Julia is so grateful for his steady friendship over the years and couldn’t imagine this day without him standing by her side.
Josh Ingram

Josh holds a special place in our lives as the one and only guy on the equestrian team, where he quickly became part of our circle. What started as team time turned into real friendship, especially as he and Kalon bonded over countless projects at the barn and shared laughs. Josh is the kind of person who can turn any ordinary evening into a great memory-whether it’s building something in the shop, playing games, or just hanging out. His humor, loyalty, and easygoing nature are just a few of the many reasons we love having him by our side on such an important day.
Ranger Weaver-Schuurman
Honorary Family Member in Spirit
Ranger is Kalon and Julia’s very first “child,” and he takes that job seriously. He adores both of them deeply and has a habit of getting extra worried whenever they leave his sight, as if they might never return from even the shortest errand. His comfort items—his beloved polar bear stuffed animal (a very important “borrowed” treasure from Kalon) and his fish bone toy—are his emotional support crew when he’s missing his people. For the wedding, Ranger’s role is simple but important: Keeper of Love and Homebound Guardian of the Couple’s Happiness. He will be “representing” the joy, loyalty, and chaos he brings to their everyday life, even if he’s not physically present. He is, without question, the official greeter waiting eagerly for their return as newlyweds.
