At some point during year 1 of PT school, Justin found his way to my table where we remained table mates for the rest of our program. Beginning when I humbled myself to ask Justin for help understanding the neuro tracs, I knew he was a true friend. Somewhere along the road, we both began to see the other as more than just a close friend and Justin decided “this Texas boy just might find something in that Oklahoma girl”. However, the Lord knew we weren’t just ready to be teammates for life and that he still had work to do in us individually before we could begin a forever life together with him at the center. In February after some “chess” Justin was ready to pop the question. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, I found myself learning a new skill – hair cutting. With a few less than perfect haircuts, my skill improved and I became Justin’s official barber. At the beginning of the week, Justin planted his first seed asking for a haircut that weekend. Texas was expecting an unusual cold front that weekend making the balcony (my shops usual location) unappealing and the idea of cutting his hair inside didn't sit well with my tidy tendencies. On Friday after work, Justin asked again for a haircut to which I did not respond the most enthusiastically, looking for any opportunity to get out of the situation. Justin sweetly insisted and although not happy, I agreed. Little did I know, Justin had planted an open ring box amongst all the clipper guards. Much to Justin’s amusement, the way I picked up the box of guards, the ring box was facing away from me and I was COMPLETELY oblivious to the ring. As I was grumpily looking for the correct guard to begin, Justin popped the question and directed me to the open ring box to which I responded “of course!”. From beginning to end, I have been humbled by Justin’s unconditional friendship, love, and patience. We could not be more excited to be taking this next step in our relationship and cannot wait to celebrate with all of you.
