If you have a U.S. passport, yes, you’ll need a visa. The process is simple, and you can apply for an e-visa online at brazil.vfsevisa.com. We recommend applying at least two months in advance, or sooner if you can, just to check it off your list. If you have another passport in addition to your U.S. one, check that country’s requirements, most Latin American and European Union countries do not need a visa to enter Brazil.
You’ll want to fly into Salvador International Airport (SSA). From there, it’s about a 1 to 1.5-hour drive to Praia do Forte.
The sooner, the better! Especially for international travel. We recommend keeping an eye on flights now, and if you find a good deal, grab it! Copa Airlines has recently brought back flights to Salvador at great prices. Try not to wait until the last minute, as flights can get pricey closer to the date.
Several major airlines fly into Salvador International Airport (SSA), including LATAM, Copa, American Airlines, United, Delta, and Gol. Most flights from the U.S. will have two connections, one domestic and one in Brazil (usually São Paulo or Rio). Copa Airlines now offers a more direct route with just one stop in Panama City before heading straight to Salvador. We recommend avoiding Avianca, as it tends to be less comfortable compared to other options.
We recommend arriving in Brazil at least a couple of days before the wedding. This will give you time to adjust to the 5-hour time difference, settle in, and enjoy the beach before the big celebration. When booking flights, choose arrival times that allow you to rest and make the most of your stay.
You can book a private transfer, take an Uber, or rent a car. Feel free to share your travel plans with us, we’re happy to help arrange a van or group transport to make things easier.
It’s hot and humid, so pack light! It’ll be the end of summer in Brazil, bring breathable clothes, swimwear, and maybe a light jacket or cover up for the evenings.
The dress code is Cocktail Attire. We’d love to see everyone looking their best, long dresses, and suits (no need for vests underneath). That said, keep in mind the tropical setting, it will be warm, so choose light, breathable fabrics if possible. There are grassy areas around, so thin heels can be difficult to wear.
Brazil uses the Brazilian Real (R$). While most places accept credit cards, it’s a good idea to carry some cash for small purchases like tours or tolls (if you decide to rent a car). ATMs are available in town if you need to withdraw more during your trip.
Most hotels and cafés in Praia do Forte offer good Wi-Fi, but for reliable internet on the go, consider getting a local SIM card from the mall, an eSIM (easy if your phone is unlocked), or your provider’s international plan. If your phone is locked, you can ask your carrier for a temporary unlock. We’re happy to help you choose the best option!
