How We Met

Josh and Julia first met at an annual church conference in Washington D.C. in October 2023. They only talked for about a minute but each walked away intrigued. A few months later, they were both at the Washington D.C. temple (where the sealing ceremony will take place). Josh saw Julia from across the parking lot as she was walking out and was reminded of their brief conversation from a few months before. At around the same time, Julia matched with Josh’s brother Adam on a dating app. They never messaged, but Julia looked Adam up on Facebook and saw a picture of his family—including Josh—and was likewise reminded of their conversation in the fall. In the fall of 2024, they attended the conference again. At the end of the Saturday night gala—held at the National Portrait Gallery—Adam came up to Julia. Julia thought he was going to mention that they’d matched, but instead he said that his brother was interested in her. Since she already knew who he was talking about she didn’t ask any questions but gave Adam her name and told him that she lived in the area. That night she set a goal to talk to Josh the next day (the final day of the conference). When she went up to him, he hardly talked to her because he was embarrassed by what his brother had done. She walked back to her friend and said “I guess that is the end of that.” The next day Josh sent a cute text apologizing for not talking to her and asking if she would want to go on a date sometime. She replied that she would, and then asked him a question about his grad school program. Their text message conversations continued until they turned into a date. From the first date, they knew this was something different. They are excited to build a life together full of love, adventure, and purpose.
