CityCentre
CityCentre is the home to countless local shops and restaurants. Located between downtown Houston and Katy, CityCentre is central for visitors for the weekend. The Hotel Moran is at the heart of the CityCentre district. Within walking distance from the hotel you can grab a cup of coffee at Sweet Paris (a favorite of Julia) or a beer at Yard House (a Jeff classic). In town early and looking for somewhere to sit down for dinner within walking distance of the hotel? CityCentre is home to Eddie V's Prime Seafood, RA Sushi and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse.
Houston Museum District
Adjacent to the Texas Medical Center and Hermann Park, the Houston Museum District hosts 19 incredible museums from the Houston Zoo to the Museum of Fine Arts. A favorite of Julia's - The Menil Collection - housing approximately 17000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, and rare books and considered one of the most important privately assembled collections of the twentieth century. Take time to walk around the parks in the area and enjoy what is hopefully a beautiful fall weekend in Texas!
The Houston Galleria
As the largest mall in Texas, The Galleria is a great place for high-end shopping with more than 375 stores, 30 restaurants, and a full-sized ice rink. A favorite of Julia and Jeff's - an afternoon at The Galleria consisting of lunch, indoor ice skating, and top-notch people watching paired with chocolate-covered strawberries from Godiva.
The Rustic - Houston Post Oak
Want something southern while in town? Grab a bite to eat and a drink at The Rustic. A "backyard" restaurant, The Rustic features locally-inspired, farm-to-table plates and cocktails in a fun, outdoor atmosphere. With live music most evenings, this is a Julia and Jeff go-to! Feel free to break out your cowboy boots for this one.
Karbach Brewing Co.
Looking for a beer? A Houston gem, Karbach brews German-style beer, locally. Karbach offers a full restaurant, live music, and tours of their brewery and biergarten. Indoor and outdoor patio seating are available. Karbach is a "must" if you ask Graham, Julia's brother.
Tiny Boxwoods
A place that screams Julia - Tiny Boxwoods is an upscale-casual cafe serving classic breakfast & lunch fare amidst lush greenery & an outdoor patio. If you're looking for a perfect brunch/lunch spot over the weekend in the amazing River Oaks neighborhood, Tiny Boxwoods is perfect! We'd recommend making a reservation in advance to be sure you can grab a table.
