Our ceremony will be indoors and then we will move outside for the reception to party afterwards in a covered Pavilion!
Absolute yes! We love kids and want to be able to include them in our special day as they make all events so much more fun!
We understand how picky kids can be so we of course wanted to be prepared! Our caterer is making chicken tenders and mac and cheese for the little ones! So please just let us know how many children will be joining you when you RSVP so we can make sure there's enough!
So we do ask for an unplugged ceremony so we are all just living in the moment but if you want to snap a shot or two feel free! At the reception you can snap away all you would like and ask that you share your point of view of the night with us!
We chose our hashtag to be #MagicallyMcRae, so if you post on social media please use the hashtag so we can see all the photos from our special day!
We do ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the Ceremony! We want you to be able to get shuttled to the chapel from the parking lot, mingle, sign the guest book, and get seated and comfortable before we start the festivities.
You can contact either the Bride or her mother for any further questions! We do ask that starting two months before the event to contact her mother so we can have the Bride as stress free as possibly leading up to the day!
There are quite a few b&b’s in the area. Check out this link. https://www.defiancemo.com/bed-breakfasts
Please dress comfortable semi formal attire, reception is being held in a covered pavilion in the evening. We would also like for white to not be the main color of your dress and no jeans.
THE OLD PEACE CHAPEL The structure was originally built in New Melle, MO about 5 miles from the Historic Daniel Boone Home. It was first used as a general store and then as a tavern/dance hall in the mid-1800’s. It was remodeled in 1904 by a New Melle carpenter named Ernest Sudbrock and was transformed into a church and it opened as the Deutsche Evangelische Friedensgemeinde (German Evangelical Peace Community.) The church served the New Melle community for many years. In 1983, the church was moved to the Historic Daniel Boone Home site to be included in a proposed historic village. The inside of the church, patterned after New England style churches, has a simple elegance. The floor and pews are made of long-leaf pine, a wood which today is considered endangered. The center floorboard runs the entire length of the building, which is near 30 feet long. The ceiling is painted a bright blue to resemble the heavens and contrasts to the pristine white walls. The window glass looks wavy, this is because the glass used is called cylinder blown sheet glass, one of the types of glass manufactured in the 1800’s. The two tablets on either side of the altar have the Ten Commandments written on them. A pipe organ and clock were also added to the church. Today, it is the centerpiece of the village. Visitors can appreciate the craftsmanship and detail of this wonderful church. The acoustics of the building also make it ideal for choirs, organ music and stringed instruments.
