If you can make the time on your trip to the PNW, you have to go to the coast! Oswald (besides a wonderful name ;) ) has hikes, beaches, rocky bluffs and sometimes waterfalls. Its just shy of 2 hours to drive there from Newberg. If you pass by Cannon Beach, you have to stop for breakfast/lunch/dinner and take a walk along the beach to see Haystaack Rock.
A closer option to get to the Oregon Coast, about 1.5 hours from Newberg. Pacific City or Lincoln City are good launching pads to find some excellent trails, seafood lunches, or cool beaches. We're happy to point you towards hikes, waterfalls, beaches, dunes or more in these areas!
Top teir waterfalls! James' mother, brother and sister in law would highly recommend! The state park is about an hour drive from Newberg, there's a sweet little town (Silverton) about 20 minutes away from the trailhead. Cell reception is limited at the trailhead and day-use areas. If you use All Trails, look for: Trail of Ten Falls (Short Loop) = 4.9 Miles There are only 7 waterfalls in this shorter version of the loop. This trail is a ~5.5 mile loop (despite AllTrails saying it's 4.9) that walks you under, alongside and up to a whopping 7 waterfalls. With some time to stop and take some pictures it usually takes us between 2-2.5 hours to complete.
Great hiking trails good for bikes and pedestrians.
Great river spot to hang out and cool down.
Excellent Newberg Cafe/Coffee shop with scones, cinnamon rolls, and some casual breaky or lunch.
