Things To Do

Take a walking Tour of Penn State

WE ARE... going to be a bit busy to take you around... PENN STATE! THANK YOU!... for visiting us though! Instead ... YOU'RE WELCOME!... to see the places that make Penn State special to us. Opening the link should take you to a Google Maps list of things you should see!

Penn State Berkey Creamery

Rodney A. Erickson Food Science Building, 119, State College, PA 16802

No trip to Happy Valley is complete without a trip to the Penn State Creamery! Go for ice cream (no mixing flavors!) and maybe pick up some snacks for your return trip - we love the beef snack sticks and the Nittany Sharp White Cheddar!

Otto's Pub and Brewery

2235 North Atherton Street, State College, PA 16803

Need a bite to eat? Otto's is just around the corner from the venue and is one of our favorite spots in State College! Anyone who has ever visited Jakob in State College has been to Otto's :)

Fiddlehead

134 West College Avenue, State College, PA 16801

Salads and soups just off-campus - Jakob's go-to if he's grabbing lunch while working in the new engineering building

The Waffle Shop Downtown

364 East College Avenue, State College, PA 16801

Another Penn State classic - the Waffle Shop has three State College locations, and all of them make great waffles, omelets, and other breakfast fare!

Rothrock Coffee

1736 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801

Need caffeine? Rothrock has our favorite coffee in town. We wanted to go here for our first date, but the shop had just closed for the day before we got there. A little out of the way for most, but worth the time!

Elixr Coffee Roasters

123 West Beaver Avenue, State College, PA 16801

Where we actually wound up on our first date! Grab a coffee and wander around downtown State College, or follow our first date path and walk to the Arboretum!

Chew Chew Bun

115 East Beaver Avenue, State College, PA 16801

Great coffee and excellent sweet and savory pastries. Highly recommend a savory bun or the lemon poundcake

The Arboretum at Penn State

Bigler Road, State College, PA 16803

So you got your coffee at Elixr... start walking! Its about a 1.5 mile walk that will take you through the Penn State University Park campus. You can also drive and park here to see the pristine gardens or stop in at the new Palmer Museum of Art!

Centre County Grange Fair

169 Homan Lane, Centre Hall, PA 16828

The Grange Fair just happens to coincide with our wedding weekend! Jakob has attended at least one evening of Grange Fair every August since 2022 for a tractor pull. Go enjoy fair foods, rides, animals, etc. This is a Central PA classic, and you never know who you might see there - we saw Penn State football players Abdul Carter and Kaytron Allen while we waited for funnel cake last year!

Boal City Brewing

281 Old Boalsburg Road, Boalsburg, PA 16827

Great little microbrewery with an assortment of local brews available just down the road from State College. We love to spend summer afternoons/evenings here in the backyard seating area.

For all the days along the way
