How We Met

June 2018

We met at Eric's apartment on Hyde Street after Julia's girlfriends moved in below him in June of 2018. Eric tells the story best, "The boys and I were in the kitchen, waiting for the new girls downstairs to come up to pregame before heading out for the night. All of a sudden there she was. The room seemed to go quiet. Nothing else mattered but her smile. A truly breathtaking sight. I may have let out an audible "Holy Shit" and promptly went over to start up a conversation. The liquid courage giving me the boost I needed to be so bold. It was then when the first of three rejections manifested itself. Julia was unavailable for a date that weekend because she worked Saturdays. Later that weekend, at our first Sunday Barbecue, I insisted that we get a bite to eat that week, but again I was turned away. I mounted a 3rd and final attempt to get to know Julia, but she made it clear that we would just be friends. Fast forward one year and my master plan was realized! Julia proceeded to ask me out on March 23rd, 2019. We were falling in love the entire time.

The Proposal

February 12, 2022

Julia's turn to tell the story: "On a Thursday in February, we said goodbye as Eric was leaving for his annual work trip in Reno and I was going to Windsor to spend the weekend with my family. My sisters and I got our nails done on Saturday morning and then headed to a winery in Healdsburg for a picnic lunch with the rest of the family. It was a beautiful 80 degree day in February and I couldn't help but say, 'I wish Eric was here!' After wine tasting, we headed back to my parents to BBQ. I walked into the house and was stunned when I saw rose petals all over the floors (immediately thinking Hendy was the culprit). I followed the petals to the backyard and saw Eric standing on the patio, near a bottle of champagne and photos of us hung all around him. I was speechless. In the background I heard our favorite song "Julia" by Mt Joy playing and it all clicked. Eric got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. I cried the happiest tears and when I could finally catch my breath, I said "YES". It was truly the best moment!"
