Well… we’re really glad we ignored that advice. In 2023, Daniel and Julia met the modern way—on Bumble. What started as two strangers matching and sending a few messages quickly turned into long conversations, a lot of laughing, and the realization that neither of them really wanted the conversation to end. Somewhere between the first messages, spending time together, and realizing how easy it was to just be themselves around each other, things started to feel a little different. What was supposed to be “just meeting someone new” slowly turned into finding someone who felt like home. Daniel quickly learned that life with Julia includes big ideas, creativity, and probably a new project or plan at any given moment. Julia quickly learned that Daniel is calm, steady, patient, and very good at balancing out her chaos. Somehow it works perfectly. Together they built a relationship full of laughter, support, and the kind of partnership where you know you’ve found your person. On Valentine’s Day 2026, Daniel officially upgraded from “Internet Stranger” to fiancé when he asked Julia to marry him. Now they’re counting down to May 14, 2027, when they’ll gather their favorite people to celebrate the start of the rest of their lives together. Daniel proposed on Valentine’s Day 2026, which made the whole moment even more surprising—because Daniel has always been very vocal about how over-commercialized Valentine’s Day is. Naturally, Julia had absolutely no reason to suspect anything. That afternoon, Julia was on FaceTime with her best friend Kylie (Matron of Honor). The two of them were doing what they usually do—being complete dorks, laughing, and talking about plans for the next day. At one point Daniel walked in and asked why Julia was still on the phone. Julia explained that she was helping Kylie clean her house so they could hang out the next day—because apparently Kylie wasn’t allowed to hang out until the house was clean. Daniel jokingly chimed in, “Hey Kylie, why don’t you make Julia clean our house?” Without missing a beat, Kylie replied, “No, that’s a wife’s job, *******.” Everyone laughed, and Daniel casually stepped outside to his truck while Julia and Kylie went right back to laughing and talking. A few moments later, Daniel came back inside and walked up to Julia. When she looked up, he was standing right in front of her holding an open ring box. Completely confused, Julia looked at the ring and said, “…That’s an engagement ring.” Daniel smiled and said, “Will you marry me?” Julia, completely caught off guard, managed to stutter out a yes before suddenly remembering Kylie was still on FaceTime. She quickly looked back at her phone and said: “Kylie… I gotta go.” And just like that, an ordinary Valentine’s Day afternoon turned into the moment that started the next chapter of their lives together. 💜
