I met my now-fiancée, Julia, while working at The Ritz-Carlton Westchester. Ten years later, after being hired at The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, the hospitality industry runs deep in both Julia’s and my family. I knew that I wanted to propose to Julia at our hotel. We decided the proposal would take place in one of our suites. The suite was ideal— high enough to offer a stunning view, but low enough to see the "Will you marry me?" sign across the street at the rooftop of 230 Fifth. With Erika’s help, we planned a competitive site visit where Julia and her team would tour our brand-new hotel, completely unaware of the surprise awaiting her. September 8th was set. Freddie and Michael Antonelli held the sign at 230 Fifth. & Yvonne and Erika escorted Julia to the suite, where I was waiting. On the nightstand was a pair of binoculars and a card addressed to Julia that read, “For your eyes only… Look closely and you will see your future.” When she looked through the binoculars and saw the sign, she was in complete shock. At that moment, I was on one knee in front of her. And the rest, as they say, is history.
