We would love a semi-formal vibe, but, more than anything, we want folks to be comfortable and happy!
Well... it will be October in WNC, and the Appalachian mountains have unpredictable microclimates. The average highs in mid-October are in the mid-to-high 60s, and the average lows are in the 40s. While October is generally drier, we cannot fully predict rainfall. Please bring layers in case it is cooler, and check the forecast closer to the event.
The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all be outdoors, with a breathtaking view of the mountains and the lake. However, the cocktail hour and reception will have tents covering the tables, food, and dance floor. There is a small indoor space for the cocktails and appetizers.
Due to space, the rehearsal dinner will be reserved for the wedding party and immediate family only. We are planning the ceremony to start later in the afternoon because we predict many guests may arrive in the area on Saturday morning.
We have reserved a block of rooms at Lake Logan that can house about 3/4 of our guests. In general, our guests seem to have different plans for where they would like to stay (with family in town, in hotels, in AirbnBs, in Bed and Breakfasts). Therefore, we did not reserve a block of hotel rooms. If you are having trouble finding a place to stay, please reach out to us individually, and we will help in any way we can. Again, we recommend reserving your lodging well in advance due to peak season tourism rates in October.
Your physical invitation will detail whether or not you are given a plus one. Otherwise, we have a strict guest limit, and you and your plus one must RSVP ahead of time. Unfortunately, last-minute plus-ones are not welcome.
Yes, there will be vegan, dairy-free, vegetarian, and gluten-free options at both the cocktail hour and the dinner. Please let us know if you and/or your plus-one have any specific allergies or dietary restrictions well in advance so that we can plan to accommodate you.
For the ceremony and reception, there are no stairs or major obstacles. However, the venue is outdoors, and the ground is mostly grass and/or gravel, so there may be some challenges depending on your individual needs. If you are worried about accessibility, please reach out to Julia or Chris directly. We are very passionate about doing everything we can to make everyone feel welcome and cared for, no matter your disability status.
For attendance at the ceremony and reception, RSVP's are due on this website by August 1st. For those who wish to stay in the cabins we have at the venue, you MUST reserve and pay for your spot by July 1st. This is the venue's policy, and it is non-negotiable.
Yes, young children are welcome. Lake Logan is a large outdoor venue where children can run around and play. If you plan on bringing young children, include them in your RSVP so that we can plan accordingly. NOTE: The venue is very close to a body of water. If you bring young children, they MUST be supervised at all times and should stay away from the edge of the lake for safety purposes.
Yes, there is free parking across from the entrance to the lake, and then a brief walk (~5) to where the ceremony will be held. There will be signage directing where to park. If you are unable to walk the distance, you can be dropped off directly at the ceremony site, and then the car can be returned to the parking area by friends and family.
