Chris and Julia's story begins 3 years ago when they met through the new-age tradition of app dating and bonded over good banter and a love for all things carb-y. While falling in love was the easy part, it had taken both of them quite awhile to find each other. After spending their twenties in college, living in different cities and countries, and job changes, it seemed like in the blink of an eye, both of them found themselves in their thirties and single. Chris messaged Julia on Hinge, and in typical Julia fashion it took her a week to respond. Luckily, Julia's habit of slow text message response time didn't stop Chris from pursuing what would end up being a perfect fit. They met for ice cream and a walk for their first date and ended up talking late into the night. Since then, their relationship moved quite quickly... Their first year together was filled with dates, adventures, meeting each other's friends and family, and fun travels together. It didn’t take long for them to know that they'd found their person. A year into the relationship, Chris made the move to Oakland to live with Julia. And what perfect timing! - It was March 2020 and a global pandemic hit a week after Chris moved into Julia's 500 square foot studio apartment... that was also occupied with her old, decrepit dog and cat, Pico and Maggie. Quarantined together for the next year, in a scenario in which you would think that the odds were stacked against them in the ultimate test, actually allowed Julia and Chris's love to evolve faster and stronger than ever. With help from families and friends, Chris proposed to Julia in February 2021 in the backyard of their home in Oakland. While Julia was away at work, Chris decorated their unfinished backyard with lights, flowers, a cozy fire pit, and a beautiful dinner waiting for her arrival. When Julia came home to see the romantic setting, she couldn't help but get the hunch that something exciting might be happening. As she anxiously awaited through dinner, Chris continued to nervously make small talk while extending her anticipation even further. Just as she couldn’t wait any longer, Chris got down on one knee and popped the question! And of course she screamed “YES!”, and then confirmed in excitement/shock, “Wait, did I say Yes!?!”. We are getting close to the big day and are so excited for all of our family and friends to gather together in one place! Thank you for being an important part of our lives and story.
