Maid of Honor
Sarah is one of the most compassionate and considerate people I've ever met, who radiates kindness every day that I have known her. Sarah and I were sorority sisters at the University of Victoria, and shortly after meeting, we were inseparable. We've had many adventures together including ski trips, festivals, concerts, and soon Palm Springs. Though we've only known each other for a year, we cannot imagine being apart— so much so that Sarah moved in with Carl and I! She is a wonderful roommate, confidant, and friend. Sarah gives life to the term "platonic soulmate"
Best Man
Magnus and I had our first big adventure when we joined the climbing academy together in grade 9 in 2011. That first year of high school we learned to climb together and got brought up into the mountains in Squamish for 4 days where we learned to ice climb. That was the first of many big adventures together. next came playing soccer, more climbing trips, going to University, joining a frat, living together, doing music festivals and much much more. Magnus and I have been almost inseparable since 2011 - okay well except for when he leaves to live in Iceland, or China or most recently Vancouver - but other than that pretty inseparable. I am so excited to get to navigate another great adventure together with him.
Bridesmaid
Leah and I met when we were 4 years old, sitting on opposite ends of a floating crocodile in the lake. We have been close friends for over 20 years— and for good reason. Leah is loyal, kind-hearted, witty, and an absolute joy to be around. Sharing a passion for theatre, we loved practicing, performing, and supporting each other throughout our years on stage. We have been side by side for so many moments and milestones. I am grateful for her consistency in my life and I am grateful to have her by my side on this very special day.
Groomsman
David is the oldest of the three Haynes brothers. He has always welcomed Julia and I into his house with open arms. In Victoria, Vancouver or Cumberland he has always given us another place to call home, hosted us with love, laugh and excellent food. I am very excited to celebrate out special day with David, his wife Emilie and our niece Josephine they are such special people in our lives.
Bridesmaid
Emma and I became close in grade 11 and we got through the thick of high school together. Those harder years of high school were easier by each other's side, arriving at school in matching outfits and taking naps in my car between classes. We cheered each other on through big moments such as getting our first jobs at Thrifty Foods. Emma is a selfless, wonderful human who I am lucky to have by my side on this special day.
Groomsman
Alex and I have been so close for so long. Whether it's goofing around, late night heart to hearts or brunch dates I love every minute I get to spend with this guy. Alex has always been there for me (unless it's a gank) and I am so greatful for our friendship. Throughout our lives and Alex and I have had so many chats about love and relationships and I am so happy to have Alex as one of my groomsmen.
Bridesmaid
Hanaa is my soon-to-be sister-in-law— though we've viewed each other as sisters for many years. She married Carl's brother Luke, just last summer shortly after the Haynes family trip to Portugal! We met in my first year of University (via Luke) and have shared many special moments since. Together, we have shared many double dates, trips to festivals, birthdays, and girls' nights. Hanaa is intelligent, generous, dependable, and one of my biggest cheerleaders and confidants.
Groomsman
Darcy and I met in Grade 1 when I first moved from Georgetown Ontario to Vancouver Island. Darcy is one of the most dependable and kind people you could ever meet and I am so happy to have him as a groomsman. Not only has Darcy been an amazing friend to me throughout my life he has became really close with Julia over the years. Excited to have the man by our side on August 19th!
Bridesmaid
Sarah is my caring and protective older sister. I am so grateful for the high standards she taught me to hold, as they helped me find my way to Carl. Sarah is magic in the kitchen and is always very generous in sharing her creations with me. She helped me to find joy in baking & cooking and taught me that food is best when it’s shared. When I’m with her I have a full tummy and a happy heart. I had the privilege of standing next to Sarah on her wedding day nearly 6 years ago, and I am so happy she will be by my side on my special day as well.
Groomsman
Luke has shown me the ropes of life. He will always try something out first then get me into it with his guidance, music festivals, going to UVic, joining a frat he has guided me through some of the biggest moments and decision of my life. There has been some misses like introducing me to World of Warcraft and League of Legends but I will forgive him for that! Jokes aside Luke has been such an amazing big brother who I can come to with any problem and get more help than I could ever imagine and for that I am so thankful. Love you Luke.
Bridesmaid
Hannah and I met virtually in January 2021, when covid changed how we socialized and moved about in the world. Even though we didn't meet in person for over six months, we made the most of facetime, and a lovely friendship formed. We laughed and cried and learned so much about each other through a tiny screen. I think our record time was a 6.5-hour video call! I'm so glad that during that isolating time of our lives, we were able to foster a beautiful friendship that we'll have forever. So much love for you Hannah!
Groomsman
One of Tom and my first memories together was the styrofoam incident. Where 15 or so guys stood in a room breaking 2 inch thick 4 by 8 foot foam panels over each other's heads. For the rest of our undergrads we spent many late nights discussing fraternity operations and our love lives. I came to know Tom as a caring friend who is there through thick and thin who deeply loves his friends, family and partner - and of course I came to know him as someone who is down for a fun night when the times call as they often seem to do when we are together.
Groomsman
Seb sets the standard for a loyal friend. He has been a great confidant and advisor and we have shared so many cherished memories. From the stools we got in Whistler to our trip to Pittsburgh Seb is usually there for the most memorable times or one of the first people I tell. Seb’s always see the best in people and brings his light, warm demeanor to any occasion. Excited to enter the next chapter of my life with him by my side.
