In an ironic twist, Julia and Camden grew up twenty minutes away from each other in Oregon, but met at college in Washington, DC. Julia's sorority was hosting a charity basketball tournament, and her sorority sister Nancy invited Camden to form a team. When Camden needed an extra player, Julia volunteered, to be nice. Camden thought Julia was cute, and kept passing her the ball. Julia is really, really bad at basketball, so this was hilarious, so much so that the other team joined in and gave her opportunity after opportunity to score. Camden's strategy paid off, and their team won the game (but lost the tournament). After discovering their shared Oregon roots, the two skipped out of the sorority's evening event for a romantic walk along the National Mall, and haven't looked back since. The five years of their relationship since have been full of adventures and tribulations, and have only served to bring them closer together. When Julia went to France for a semester abroad, Camden found a job in a doughnut shop to save up to visit her. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, they packed up their DC homes and drove across the country together to join Julia's family in quarantine, and then drove back to DC a year later. When Camden's law school shifted back to in-person in New York, they spent a year apart while Julia finished up her master's degree. When Julia joined Camden in New York, she spent a year working in real estate to support Camden as he took and passed the bar exam - now Camden is supporting Julia while she pursues a PhD in Political Theory. A tale of true love spanning two coasts, multiple weeks in an overpacked Prius, and countless, marginally successful attempts to explain the rules of baseball, Julia and Camden are a team like no other.
