Things To Do

It's almost impossible to have a bad meal in New Orleans, so we hope you will explore! There are far too many places that we love to name them all but we've listed some of our favorite spots to eat, grab a drink, or just wander around below:

City Park

New Orleans, LA

Walk around, check out the sculpture garden, NOMA, the Cafe du Monde. Tons to do and a beautiful setting.

Audubon Park

New Orleans, LA 70118

Great spot for a walk and to check out some beautiful live oak trees. Right across the street from Tulane's campus. On the Carrollton streetcar line.

French Market

1008 North Peters Street, New Orleans, LA 70116

Fun outdoor stalls with food and souvenirs. Check it out if you're wandering the French Quarter for the day.

Pat O'Brien's Piano Bar

718 Saint Peter, New Orleans, LA 70116

Dueling pianos in one of the city's most famous bars. Tons of fun, make sure to bring cash to tip if you'd like the musicians to play you a song!

Museum of Death New Orleans

227 Dauphine Street, New Orleans, LA 70112

Interesting and a little bit icky if you don't like gore, go at your own risk.

Frenchmen Street

Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA

Amazing live music with some great food (check out Bamboula's for our favorite po-boys). Our venue is right around the corner and we're planning to go to Frenchman after the reception.

C'Mere

618 Chartres Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

Super cute shop with local art from artists around the city! We love supporting local!

Bisutoro on Magazine

1581 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

Our FAVORITE sushi spot in town, a little adventurous for folks who prefer simpler rolls or aren't a fan of nigiri

St James Cheese Co

5004 Prytania Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

Cheese shop with great sandwiches and salads, and wine!

Clesi's Seafood Restaurant

4323 Bienville Street, New Orleans, LA 70119

Our wedding falls during crawfish season - if you're interested in trying some (and eating somewhere with other great menu options), Clesi's is one of our favorite spots.

The Tchoup Yard

405 Third Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

If the weather is nice, this is a great beer garden-esque spot. If you're hungry, get the tater-tachos or the crunchwrap (our go-to order!)

Bacchanal Fine Wine & Spirits

600 Poland Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117

Wine bar and charcuterie with great live music and both indoor and outdoor seating. Need we say more? A favorite date night spot!

Shaya

4213 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

A favorite spot for happy hour! Their hummus options are all half price (our favorites are the cauliflower and the fried chicken) and the pita is amazing!

Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant

701 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

The scene of our first date! Cody asked Julia to go get brunch and the rest was history. Home to the famous scorpion shot (which we have been too chicken to try!)

Creole Creamery

4924 Prytania Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

The best ice cream in town!

Frankie & Johnny's

321 Arabella Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

Hole in the wall with great local cuisine - another common spot for us.

Miss Shirley's

3009 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

Some of the best Chinese food in the city - they do NOT take reservations so bet on a wait that will be worth it.

Barracuda Taco Stand

3984 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

Tacos in a chill outdoor only space. Get the broccoli taco!

French Truck Coffee

4536 Dryades Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

Multiple locations around the city, convenient spot for great coffee and yummy breakfast/brunch options. Julia can be found drinking one of their iced mochas at least once a week.

Russell's Marina Grill

8555 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124

Amazing breakfast and brunch, bet on a wait because they do not take reservations. Cody orders the chocolate chip waffle every time!

Sucré

3025 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

Super pretty desserts, including a bunch of flavors of macarons!

The Milk Bar

710 South Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118

Pretty darn good sandwiches. Teeny spot, good for a grab and go situation if there isn't enough seating. Wouldn't recommend going with a big group. On the Carrollton streetcar line so convenient if you'd like to explore the area.

Mint Modern Vietnamese

5100 Freret Street, New Orleans, LA 70115

New Orleans is known for great Vietnamese food. Mint is one of our go-to spots!

Barcelona Tapas

720 Dublin Street, New Orleans, LA 70118

Hidden tapas restaurant in our neighborhood! The food is phenomenal, the owner will be your waiter, and you have to try the red sangria! Don't go if you have somewhere to be in a specific amount of time, it can be quick or quite slow but the experience is worth it. CASH ONLY! Just off the Carrollton streetcar line and only open for dinner.

Rue De La Course

1140 South Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118

Coffee spot inside an old bank, also in our neighborhood. We frequently take Blue on a walk to get a coffee and a dog treat from them. On the Carrollton streetcar line.

Lebanon's Cafe

1500 South Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118

Our favorite mediterranean spot in town and in walking distance from our house! Indoor and outdoor seating and on the Carrollton streetcar line.

The Carousel Bar & Lounge

214 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

Bar and restaurant that gently spins, just like a carousel! Competitive to get a spot at the actual rotating bar but still a beautiful spot with great cocktails.
